GAMECOCK BARRACKS
Sheila and Peter Carey, organisers, thanked Major Richard Wilson and other military personnel of 30th Signal Regiment for their help and co-operation at the event held at Gamecock Barracks, near Nuneaton. The successful event gave competitors an opportunity to run around the barracks and out into surrounding fields and wooded areas.
On the short 1.9k course with 11 controls the winner was visitor Rebika Rai W10 who won in 23.34mins. Olivia Bailey W10 came 2nd in 30.51mins and Eve Oā€™Sullivan W14 was 3rd in 43.22mins.
Harrison McCartney M14 easily won the 3.6k course in 21.44mins, Suzanne Humphries W45 was 2nd in 27.53mins and Stuart Heaton M45 was 3rd in 28.19mins. On the Long 6k course with 21 controls and 24 competitors, Chris McCartney M40 came 1st in 33.15mins, John Liston M40 from RAF Orienteering Club came 2nd in 38.27mins and Mike Hampton M65 was 3rd in 39.21mins.
This weekend several club members will be travelling to the annual White Rose Weekend in Yorkshire. The autumn and winter Saturday morning local event series will start on 15th September at Brueton Park, Solihull. Beginners and families will be especially welcome to come along and try out this outdoor adventure navigational sport.

HAY WOOD RESULTS
Mark Beverley organised three courses around Hay Wood, Baddesley Clinton. The terrain proved quite tricky as the undergrowth was very high. On the short Yellow 2.2k course Will Heaton M14 came first in 23.28mins closely followed by Matthew Kermode M12 in 23.36mins and E Maurel M10 3rd in 25.37mins.
On the medium length Green 3.7k course Pete Carey M65 was well ahead in 40.57mins of J Pearson M60 47.17mins and C. Nelson M60 47.45mins both visitors from Harlequins club. 26 people tackled the long 4.2k Blue course and Will Gardner M20 came in first in 32.14mins, Chris McCartney M40 2nd in 33.56mins and M. Skinner M45 a visitor from West Cumberland OC 3rd in 40.17mins.
