RESULTS ROUND UP
Urban racing was popular with Octavian Droobers club members this weekend, with Lincoln, Sheffield and Tewkesbury being the locations of the events.
First up, as part of the Race the Castles series in Yorkshire on Saturday, was the Sheffield race which saw Peter Carey M75 the outright winner of the Men Hyper Vet class racing around the 3.9km course in 31.59mins.
Around Lincoln City on Sunday Peter Carey M75 was 2nd on the Mens Hyper Vet 3.09km course taking 28.12mins, Sheila Carey W70 3rd on the Womens Ultra Vet 3.09km course taking 27.33mins, Sue Bicknell W75 was 4th on the Womens Hyper Vet 3.09km course in 42.18mins and Keith Willdig M70 was placed 8th on the Mens Ultra Vet course taking 38.40mins on the 4.45kmm course.
RESULTS FROM BUCKINGHAM AND RUGBY
Competitors had several options to take part in orienteering this weekend. One was an Urban race around Buckingham and another was an innovative ‘photo’ orienteering competition around Rugby Town Centre.
Buckingham Town Centre and surrounding park was the venue for the UK Urban league event organised by South Midlands Orienteering Club. Chris McCartney M50 was 1st on the Mens Vet 5.8km course in 42.38mins, Peter Carey M75 was 1st on the Mens Hyper Vet 3.2km course taking 27.17mins and Sheila Carey W70 was 1st on the Womens Ultra Vet 3.2km course in 28.19mins.
Making their debuts for the club were two new members: Kin Wai Lee M21 who came 3rd on the Mens Open 6.7km course taking 42.43mins and Ka Man Leung W21, 2nd in the Womens Open class taking 51.15mins on the 5.8km course. Nadine Wright W21 was 4th on the Womens Open in 53.06mins.
