Results from Retford, Caddihoe Chase and Oceania Championships
Mike Snell M60 won the Super Vet 5.1km men’s course in 39.57mins at the Urban race around Retford in Nottinghamshire and Mike Hampton M70 was 5th in 46.48mins on the 4.5km Mens Ultra Vet course.
Devon Orienteering Club staged the annual Caddihoe Chase weekend at Burrator, south west Dartmoor. On Day 1 Jill Emmerson W55 was 2nd on the W50 class 4.44km course taking 62.58mins and Margaret Willdig was 5th on the W65 3.31km course in 60.01mins. Barry Elkington was 5th in 57.33mins and Andy Emmerson 8th in 59.18mins on the M60 class 5.81km course with 135 metres of climb. On the M65 class 4.44km course with 155 metres of climb Tony Feltbower was 6th in 50.34mins. On Day 2 with a chasing start based on Day 1’s performance Barry was 3rd (overall 5th) Andy Emmerson 5th (overall 7th), Tony Feltbower 3rd (overall 4th), Jill Emmerson 6th (overall 4th) and Margaret Willdig 2nd (overall 2nd).
England win Veteran Home International
Lesley Ross, representing England, was 3rd in her individual race on Sunday and 1st in the England Relay team with two male colleagues on Saturday, to help England to a resounding victory. The event was held this year in Scotland and organised by Edinburgh South Orienteering Club.
At the 12th London City Race, top ten places were won by Richard Gardner M65 8th on the Mens Ultra Vet 7.7km course in 42.15min and Liz Phillips W55 9th in 40.56mins on the Womens Super Vets 5.5km course.
