CASTLE HILL, DAVENTRY COUNTRY PARK AND WEST WOODS RESULTS
Castle Hill Country Park at Anstey, near Leicester was a popular if extremely wet and muddy venue for Sundays regional event laid on by Leicestershire Orienteering Club. Hundreds of orienteers participated on a range of differing length courses and many OD club members competed. Top 10 places were achieved by Barry Elkington 9th on the longest course Brown 10.2km taking 71.27mins. Tony Feltbower M65 was 8th on the Green 5km course in 45.28mins and Mike Hampton M70 was 6th on the Short Green 4.1km course in 44 mins. Rachel Alexander was 7th on the Light Green course and Sue Hallett 4th on the Orange 3.4km course.
ENGLAND CALL UP, CANNOCK CHASE & NEW YEARS DAY RESULTS
Congratulations to Will Gardner and Lesley Ross who have been selected to represent England in the annual European INTERLAND competition. The individual and relay races this year between two Belgian teams (Flemish and French speaking), Netherlands, Northern France and English teams take place in the woods at Burnham Beeches in Buckinghamshire on 1st March. There will be 42 England team members spanning age groups from 14 to 60 plus. Selections were based on a series of events that took place in the autumn.
The first West Midlands league event of 2020 took place at Brindley Heath on Cannock Chase and was organised by Walton Chasers. OD members turned out in force to accumulate 1461 points and take the lead from home club Walton Chasers 1442. Scoring the maximum 100 points for the club by winning their age classes were Will Gardner M21, Rob Bambrook M45, Chris McCartney M50, Trevor Simpson M80, Tabitha Lunn W16 Harriet Lawson W21, Lesley Ross W50 and Janet Richardson W70.
