ORIENTEERING – RESULTS FROM CAMBOURNE
This weekend Octavian Droober club members competed at an event organised by West Anglia Orienteering Club in Cambridgeshire. Racing in pouring rain, around the streets of Cambourne, surrounding parklands and woods, saw Bruce Bryant M60 lead the field in 37.57mins on the 5km Green course, nearly 5mins ahead of 2nd placed Stu Levene from Happy Hertfordshire Orienteering Club. Also on the Green course Liz Phillips W55 was 4th in 44.26mins and Mike Hampton M70 9th in 48.15mins.
On the longest course Blue 7.2km, Sophie Kirk W21 was the fastest female runner taking 48.32mins, to locate 18 controls, and an overall 5th place. On the Short Green 3.5km course John Middler M65 was 7th in 46.37mins and Sue Hallett was 8th in 47.30mins.

ORIENTEERING – GETTING BACK INTO THE WOODS
This weekend Octavian Droobers Orienteers were able to get back into navigating and running through the woods at their first event staged under approved Covid-secure guidelines at Itchington Holt. Only Club members were allowed to take part and there were a few changes: pre-entry, social distancing at the start and use of hand sanitiser.
There were three courses Short, Medium and Long. Sue Hallett W70 was the winner of the Short course taking 40.31mins, Liz Phillips W55 was 1st on the Medium course in 37.12mins and on the Long course Will Gardner M21 won in 27.27mins, just ahead of Nathan Lawson M21 27.38mins and 3rd placed Duncan Birtwistle M21 31.24mins.
