KENILWORTH SCHOOL WIN SPORTS AWARD
The World Schools orienteering gold medal winners at Kenilworth School and Sports College have been awarded Junior Team of the Year. The girls received their prize including a £700 bursary to the school at the presentation dinner yesterday evening (3 November) organised by Coventry, Solihull and Warwickshire Sports Awards. Congratulations to team members: Tamsin Alcock, Elizabeth Davies, Julie Emmerson, Rachel Emmerson and Francesca Slade – all members of Octavian Droobers – of course.

WEEKEND RESULTS ROUND UP
Matt Elkington M16 came 1st in 17.39mins on the M16 and under race on the popular and oversubscribed event staged around Cambridge City Centre on Saturday. Fellow junior Guy Ross M16 came 4th in 24.23mins. Lesley Ross W45 came 6th in her race in 50.39mins, Riina Kuuselo W21 6th in the open women’s race in 52.41mins and Mike Hampton M65 10th on the M55 + race in 46.45mins.
Sophie Kirk W20 and Robert Gardner M20 made their debuts over the weekend representing England in the Senior Home International championships in both the individual and relay two day event staged in Merthyr, South Wales. England could not replicate their win of last year and were beaten into second place by a strong Scottish team.
Sunday saw many club members competing in the West Midlands league event at Shoal Hill, Cannock Chase event organised by Walton Chasers. OD members were chasing maximum points to go back to the top of the league. Great runs by Heather Rogers W14 1st on the Light Green 3.1k course in 40.23mins, Bob Brandon M60 2nd on the Green 4.4k in 36.02mins and Barry Elkington M55 2nd on the Blue 5.7k course in 43.39mins, Alfie Bullus M12 4th on the Orange 2.7k course in 48.20mins and many other good point scoring results will push the club up. Also on Sunday Mike Hampton ran down on the Chiltern Hills at a Thames Valley event and came 7th on the Blue 7.2k course in 57.21mins.
KENILWORTH SCHOOL NOMINATED FOR TWO AWARDS
The World Schools orienteering gold medal winners at Kenilworth School and Sports College have been nominated for two awards: Warwick District Sports Awards for a Junior Team and the Coventry, Solihull and Warwickshire Sports Award for School Team of the Year. Results will be announced in November.
