Droobers 5th in the final
Droobers made a long soggy trip up to Pendle for today's Compass Sport Cup final where Storm Ashley wasn't exactly too welcoming. Droobers came 5th, half-way up the field. All the clubs above us were northern clubs who could bring along a big team whilst all of those below us were southern clubs with a long way to travel which suggests that geography may have played a role. Phil Vokes led the team with a superb 1st place on course 1 followed home by Matt Elkington in 6th and Nathan Lawson in 8th on the course.
Other Droobers with top 10 finishes in their course were Kirsten Strain 8th, Alistair Landels 3rd, Juliette Soulard 4th, Anne Straube 10th, David Lawson 6th, Andy Emmerson 10th, Peter Carey 2nd and Sheila Carey 9th. Well done to all of them and to the other Droobers who made the long trip up north to represent the club.
Our next event is much closer to home at Cracks Hill over in Crick next Saturday Oct 26th. It is a good venue for experienced orienteers to have a fast run while offering first-timers and newcomers a manageable challenge - see the Events pages for full details.
