Last Sunday's (Oct 9th) Stratford Urban Race had a good entry drawing 226 runners from across the UK to compete in the town. It was good to get the event underway because the meadows area was underwater just a week before. The event was months in the planning and organising and it is many years since the Droobers have been able to hold an event in Stratford. Thanks in particular to the Council, the Sports Club, other land owners and to the people of Stratford for putting up with, even though looking a little quizically at times, all these people running around the area.

There were 8 courses on the day, one course winner was from Norway, another from the north-east of England and it is great to report the Droobers were the only club who managed to get a victory in two of the courses. Sheila Carey took the line on Course 6 and Keith Willdig on Course 5. Take a look at the Droober website page to see the full results - clrfinal.frx (octavian-droobers.org)

Thanks to the organiser Bob Brandon, the planner Alistair Powell, to the many club member volunteers who helped to run the event so smoothly and also to the Sports Club who made us feel so at home. It was very nice to be in a warm room rather than a muddy field.

We always welcome people coming along to our events for the first time and our next one is ideal for newcomers. The next event is at Cracks Hill, October 26th with starts between 14.30 and 15.30. More details and how to enter are shown in the Event Calendar pages on our website at  Cracks Hill - OD Local League event - Octavian Droobers - The Orienteering Club for Warwickshire, Coventry and Solihull in the West Midlands, UK (octavian-droobers.org)
