Firstly I must apologise for the difficulty of parts of the courses, especially the Short course. Then 105 may have been 20-30m out, seems there may have been more than one subtle bend in that almost straight ditch.
I do hope however that many of you did enjoy the challenge of Hay Wood, and seeing the last of the bluebells before the bracken and brambles take over for the summer. The map is fairly accurate although the vegetation is becoming a little dated. I stuck to using the more visible ditches, some of those in the middle of the map are very difficult to find or follow. Bruce told me he's waiting for Lidar data to update the map but as the area is maybe in the Birmingham airport flight-path, acquiring this could take a while.
Thanks to Bruce for arranging the map printing and delivery. My son Adam who helped me put out the 19 forest controls (none of his 11 easy course controls). Karin Kirk for doing her typically excellent meet-n-greet. Juliette, Liz and Bruce for managing registration and later results. And Anne & Max, Kimberly & Felix, Laura & Antoni, Will, Mike, and John for helping collect controls. Apologies if I missed anyone? And lastly to Richard and Sian for taking away all the equipment for next week at Coombe Abbey!
Cheers
Alistair
