Organiser's Comments

The forecasted rain (which arrived towards the end of the event) and rush-hour traffic did not put off over 50 runners turning up to our Elmdon Park event. It was supposed to be my first attempt at planning an event (with Suzanne holding my hand at all times) but family commitments meant the bulk of the preparation work unfortunately fell to Suzanne.

The feedback we received was generally favourable (thank you to those who spoke to us at the finish) despite the map not being up to date with paths disappearing and new ones having been formed and park furniture missing or added to. It was interesting to see how a few specific controls caused problems, although not to all, and highlights the importance of how you attack a control.

We just about got the map numbers right but thanks to Tony Feltbower for allowing us to recycle his map (a pdf version will being winging its way to you Tony just as soon as Suzanne has shown me how to do it). Congratulations to all course winners (we know you enjoyed the courses) and to Marian White who beat her husband for the first time in many years (I’m sure Marian will drag Andy along to our next planned event at Itchington Holt in January, just to prove it was not a fluke).

Our thanks to Sue Hallet for ‘Meeting and Greeting’, minding the juniors on the Yellow course and providing a helping hand and to Rob & Pippa Smart, Bob Brandon, John Middler, Liz Phillips and Bruce Bryant for helping to collect controls in the evening gloom and wet (one control went missing [120] after the courses closed and before collection – planners please note).

We hope to see many of you at our next event where, hopefully, I can be more helpful to Suzanne.

Ian Prowse & Suzanne
