Organisers Comments
A slow start turned into a busy afternoon with a lot of juniors having a go at one or more of the five courses on offer. Many had multiple goes at the "A" and "B" maze courses but chose not to download in between so the level of participation was rather higher than the attached results indicate. Well done to all who attempted the courses, especially the very young.
The Schools competition used Course "C" on the Maze map. Six juniors completed the course and I have also chosen to include a further two juniors who mixed up 6 and 9 (easy to do) but who did complete the course. On that basis both Thorns and St. Nicholas had two successful runners in different age groups and so I declare them joint winners of this competition. Congratulations to Sam Leadley and Ben Griffin of St. Nicholas and to Simon Baker and Tim Necar of Thorns. Congratulations also to the outright winner, Matthew Kermode who completed the course in 1 minute 18 seconds.
This event was jointly organised by Octavian Droobers and Kenilworth School and Sports College. Thanks to Ian Lockren for helping organise the event, for helping on the day and for mobilising assistance from several Kenilworth School students. Thanks to all the helpers; both Kenilworth School students and the Droobers (both junior and senior) who turned out to help and make the event a success. I also want to acknowledge the enthusiastic assistance throughout the planning phase provided by Judie Stoddard who manages Abbey Fields for Warwick District Council.
Finally, a special thank you to my daughter Rachel and to John Cherry who did a great job for a long time in the registration tent without any adult supervision.
