Planner's comments:
Thankfully we had some good weather, and the area was dry underfoot. Despite it being mid-August, we had a reasonable turn out. Due to the relatively small size of the wood, most courses had the full tour, and the runners on the long course made several circuits.
Planning was pretty straightforward, apart from the yellow course. Due to the number of minor paths it was hard to set a course at the required level, and I'm not sure I entirely succeeded. There were some long leg times amongst the runners, and I would be interested to hear any comments on the course.
There was still quite a lot of camping in the wood, and we had some push back about running near camp sites. Whilst I don't think the event caused any real disruption, it may be worth showing some awareness to avoid this being perceived as a problem for future summer events.
Sadly no one claimed the time bonus by spotting the intentional mistake (wrong date) on the map.
One control went missing, after the event had finished. Whether it was mischief, or just a fumbled control collection (by yours truly) is hard to say. We shall see if it turns up.
Thanks due to Mark for permissions, Bob for help organising, set up, and control collection, Bruce for mapping, course QA and printing, Graham for equipment and running download, Liz for download and control collection, and Karin for meet and greet and support on the day.
