OD STAGE FIRST RACE OF 2011
Octavian Droobers members and new orienteers ran round Memorial Park, Coventry, an event organised by Alan Halliday, with help from Jane and Jo Halliday. Over 70 participants competed on the 3 courses – Yellow (short), Medium and Long.
Club member Thomas Taylor M10 won the Yellow course in 10.32mins, Daniel Hague was 2nd in 12.03mins and Lauren Taylor W6 OD 3rd in 12.07mins. On the medium course Calum Barnetson M18 OD won in 15.50mins, Jake Dolphin M14 was 2nd in 19.19mins and James Dance M16 OD was 3rd in 19.51mins. Thomas Honniball M21 was 1st in 19.26mins, narrowly beating OD member Chris McCartney M40 19.38mins and Hamish Rogers M16 OD was 3rd in 20.51mins.
The Club are looking forward to competing in the 1st round of the national inter club competition, Compass Sport Cup, which takes place on Sunday at Sutton Park, Sutton Coldfield. Over 80 club members will be taking part. OD came 3rd last year in the final and is hoping to reach the final again.
