BANK HOLIDAY WEEKEND RESULTS ROUND UP
 
The White Rose Weekend annual event was held this year in Dalby Forest by EBOR Orienteers. It is very popular with many people camping at the event and competing in a series of events including middle, long and sprint distances. A group of club members attended and there were some good runs. Sheila Carey won her W70 Long class in a total time of 95.56mins combined over the two days, 8 minutes ahead of Pauline Ward from Derwent Valley Orienteers. David Lawson M50 won his class with an overall combined time of 113.56mins after completing Day 1 and 2. Son Nathan Lawson was 5th overall in the M21 Long having been placed 4th and 5th on Day 1 and 2 and Harrison McCartney was 7th. 
 
Chris McCartney was 2nd on the M45 Long course in a total combined time of 117.24mins. Lesley Ross was 2nd overall on the W50 Long courses in 95.07mins, less than a minute behind Jackie Hallett of Bristol Orienteering. Hilary Simpson was also 2nd in a total of 127.57mins, only 40 seconds behind the leading runner on the W75 course and Kirsten Strain was 4th on the W21L courses
 
Bob Brandon was 6th overall on the M65 Long courses, Carolyn Marr was 7th overall on the W65 Long Courses and Sue Bicknell was 7th overall on the W70 Long courses. Paul Gregson M35 was 3rd overall after competing on both days on the Short M35 courses. Kevin Ross was 2nd overall on the M50 short courses and John Middler 5th overall on the M60 short courses. On the Blue courses Dave Marr M65 came 1st overall in 122.54mins. Ellie Simpson came 3rd on Day 2 on W10A course and Trevor Simpson M75 was 3rd overall on the Green courses.
 
Top 5 placings in the Sprint event at White Cliff Rigg were: Nathan Lawson in  2nd place on Course 1, Chris McCartney 4th on Course 2 and Sheila Carey 5th on Course 4.
 
Thames Valley Orienteering Club annual Monday Urban event was run around the sunny streets of Grove, near Wantage in Berkshire. The longest course, Mens Open, was 8km in length and Matt Elkington found the 23 controls in 41 minutes just behind winner Dane Blomquist, 40.31mins from South Yorkshire. Alfie Bullus was 3rd in the M16 class 3.9km course taking 26.34mins. Sheila Carey had a very fast run and won the W65 class 3.7km course taking 32.31mins, 3 minutes ahead of her nearest rival.On Course 2, 6.9km, Chris McCartney took 38.44mins to take 5th place in the M40 age class and Barry Elkington was placed 9th in the M55 class. Bruce Bryant M55 was 4th and Mike Hampton M70 was 7th in the M65 Class, Liz Phillips was 6th in the W40 class 5.8km course taking 46.05mins and Nadine Wright was 7th in the Womens Open in 55.37mins on the 6.9km course.
 
On the previous day’s street urban race in Leatherhead, Mike Hampton was 10th on the 5.4km course in 57.07mins.
