BURBAGE COMMON AND WOODS

Matt Elkington M18 was the top runner at the Burbage regional event staged by Leicester Orienteering Club on a dry day although there were several wet areas in the woods. He came second on the Blue 7k course taking 58.02mins ahead of Harriet Lawson W18 who came 3rd in 65.38mins, Anne Straube W35 5th in 6.11mins and David Lawson M50 8th 69.35mins. Chris McCartney M40 came 6th in 72 mins just beating son Harrison M16 into 7th place in 72.53mins on the Long Brown 8.7k course.

On the Green 5.2k course Liz Phillips W45 came 6th in 54.23mins, Sheila Carey W65 7th in 55.58mins and Pete Carey M65 10th in 56.33mins. Hilary Simpson W70 came in 6th place on the Short Green 3.4k course taking 54.21mins.

Thelma Spalton planned three courses at Elmdon Park, Solihull, and competitors managed to run their courses avoiding the heavy showers. Winner of the Long Green 4.7k course was Harrison McCartney M16 taking 34.36mins ahead of Harlequins club members: John Embrey M55 39.20mins and Mike Baggott M60 41.48mins.

Calum Barnetson M20 won the Medium 3.6k course taking 23.21mins, Rob Smart M45 was 2nd in 33.11mins and Russ Fauset M65 from Harlequins 3rd 33.54mins. On the Yellow short 1.9k course Yuhang Xie M14 from King Henry VIII School came 1st in 16.49mins, Callum Pearman M14 was 2nd in 18.27mins and Felix Lunn M12 3rd in 19.11mins.

Current leaders of the Octavian Droobers club league, taking the best 9 performances for the year so far - in the Yellow League Felix Lunn M12 with 680 points, Orange League Linda Page W55 884 points, Green League Mike Hampton M65 890 points and Chris McCartney M40 leads the Blue League with 896 points.
