OD Local Score event - Ryton Pools Country Park
An OD Local Score event at Ryton Pools Country Park suitable for everyone from the absolute beginner (help and advice available) to the experienced orienteer. Enjoy this fun outdoor adventure sport for all ages 5 – 85 especially families.

Start times: 11:00 - 12:00
Courses: Easy, Short Score (30mins), Long Score (45 mins)
A simple loop course suitable for any beginners:
Easy 1.6km 9 controls EOD maps: 7
Suitable for anyone who want more of a challenge than the Easy course:
Short Score 30 minutes 23 controls optimum distance 4.1km EOD maps: 1
A more challenging course suitable for those with some orienteering experience:
Long Score 45 minutes 35 controls optimum distance 6.8km EOD maps:: 5
For both Score courses, 10 points per control, -10 points per minute or part minute over the time limit.
Long Score has a double sided map – Part A has odd numbered controls and Part B has even numbered controls. Start on either side. Collect as many controls as you like from the first side then turn over. Once you have turned over, there is no going back to the first side. Check the number on each control before punching! If your SIAC accidentally picks up controls from the wrong side in passing, these will be ignored.
Map: Ryton Pools is drawn at a scale of 1 : 5000 with 2.5m contours. Maps are A4 pre-printed on waterproof paper. Map by Bruce Bryant.(revised 2022).
COVID: Please do not come if you have symptoms of Covid-19, or suspect you may have it.
Safety and Risk:
A risk assessment will have been carried out by the organiser, but participants take part at their own risk and are responsible for their own safety during the event. If you have a high risk medical condition you want organisers to be aware of please leave details at enquiries in a sealed envelope with your name on it. You can use this medical form. Envelopes will only be opened if required for a medical emergency. Unopened envelopes should be collected after the event. Any unclaimed envelopes will be destroyed after the event.
An emergency number for the day is printed on the map. First aid and details of the nearest A&E hospital will be available in the assembly area.

British Orienteering has an agreed national guidance policy on the taking of photographs at events. If you are unsure about agreed acceptable practise please speak to the event organiser.
Privacy & Personal Data:
When entering events your personal details (name, age, gender, club) will appear in the results section on this website. It may also be used to trace missing runners and hired SI cards.
