The Junior Rep for 2012 - 2013 is Julie Emmerson

Any juniors with suggestions, offers, questions or requests about anything OD are invited to speak with Julie either at events or by emailing her at : julie.emmerson@hotmail.com


 The OD Junior Reps for the period up to September 2012 are Emma Kettley and Matthew Elkington.

 They are "in post" to act as a focal point for club juniors; for information and advice, and also to represent junior interests to the OD club committee.
They very approachable so please engage with them both socially and on any club related issues.

 


Job Description for the role of Octavian Droobers Junior Captain

 The junior captain(s) should be in the M/W16 to M/W20 age range and should have a wide range of experience spanning different levels of orienteering events. One or two Junior Captains will be appointed each year. A pair of juniors may submit a joint application.

Junior Captain

  • To be a point of contact for OD juniors in order to represent their interests to the OD Committee and in so doing to help all juniors feel an integral part of the Octavian Droobers.

  • To communicate with the OD Committee either in person at committee meetings or by briefing the OD Junior Squad Coordinator / OD Club Captain as appropriate prior to a committee meeting.

 

Tenure of Office

  • The appointment will be for a period of one year, running September to September.

  • The number of years that any individual may serve is limited only by the designated age range.

 

Communication

  • To write a short article for each Droober magazine.

  • To encourage other juniors to submit contributions following junior team events, schools events, international events and squad coaching activities.

  • To contribute to the juniors section of the OD website.

  • To establish if there is sufficient interest to create and maintain a junior blog on the website and / or use other communication media such as “Facebook”.

 

New Junior Members

  • To be an approachable point of contact for new junior members.

  • To provide advice (on request) to juniors regarding e.g. orienteering jargon, technical and physical course standards, age groupings, coaching opportunities and the suitability of imminent events.

 

OD Events

  • To collaborate with the OD Junior Squad Co-ordinator in planning, publicising and executing OD junior coaching and social sessions.

  • To co-ordinate junior help at OD events, when requested by the event organiser.

 

Junior Teams

  • To advise the OD Club Captain on junior team selections, using their knowledge of the strengths and weaknesses of both OD juniors and juniors from other competing clubs.
