Results for “OD Park Race Series 3” at “Stoneleigh Park (NAC)” on “3rd June 2009” Yellow 2.3km
Women’s/ Short Sprint 3.4km
Men’s/ Long Sprint 4.7km
An excellent turnout of 102 people for a warm evening of Orienteering. There were some very close results, so close in fact we had 3 tied results. It was good to see some newcomers, who seemed to enjoy the
challenge. My cousin Steffan White did his first ever course, sped round and
messed up one control. It must be in the genes. There were many positive comments about the courses which
was pleasing. Apologies are offered for two things. Firstly, a couple of control
description comments needed greater detail and accuracy. Secondly, sorry to
anyone who got evil stares or unhappy comments because they were near some horse
stables. The stables were empty when I planned the course! Julian Simpson got round at very high speed, but I know the
secret of his success on this occasion. He did not have enough money to enter
the event so when he punched the start furious officials (my mum) gave pursuit.
With high levels of adrenaline he completed the course as the winner. The jury
is still out on whether this result will stand, after close rivals all lodged
complaints! In conclusion I would like to offer special thanks
Ella-Rose, Harrison, Natalie and my mum (Delia) for running registration and
download with such efficiency. Thanks must also go to Iain and John Embrey for
helping to collect controls. Final thanks go to Sue Bicknell for car park
collection and Mike Hampton and Barry Elkington for their advice. Chris McCartney |
