Results for OD Saturday Series, Brueton Parks, 22/11/2008

This is a tribute to Team OD. The day started well enough: a generous response to an appeal on the e-mail tree for helpers provided the luxury of plentiful support for the newcomers who braved the elements and the soggy conditions underfoot. What the helpers hadn't bargained for was being without an organiser while Graham spent a couple of hours in Casualty ! He slipped off a causeway in the Grimpen Mire and landed on his elbow. All the first -aiders who saw the resulting mess said ,with one voice," Casualty" -many thanks to Trudy Hanson, who was waiting innocently in the club tent for her son and leapt into first-aid action. By the time Graham returned the controls were being collected in and the equipment stashed in our car -in fact, we were home much sooner than expected !

Particular thanks to Karin and Chris for helping the newcomers, also Liz Furness who gave up a run to take a newcomer round, took over download and then organised control collection. Chris not only gave up his run and then collected controls but also joined Paul in a pond-dipping expedition for an EMIT brick which had ricocheted off a control into a freezing water-feature. Paul also managed all the technology ,including setting-up and packing away. John Bowman, after a long stint on registration, stayed much longer than intended to help with control collection.
