WEST MIDLANDS CHAMPIONS

Congratulations to the eleven Octavian Droober orienteers who became West Midlands champions in their age groups after competing in the annual event, held this year by West Midlands club, Harlequins, at Worcestershire Beacon, Malvern.

Junior, Max Straube-Roth won the M14 year old trophy and his mother Anne Straube the W35 award. Alistair Landels won the M40 class, Juliette Soulard W50, Chris McCartney M50, David Leadley M55, Rachel Alexander W60, Barry Elkington M65, Karin Kirk W70, Sheila Carey W75 and Peter Carey M75.

The club also currently tops the West Midlands league which takes place this year over 7 events and is open to club members of all ages.

Results from the 6th League event at Chetwynd Wood in Staffordshire, organised by Walton Chasers, saw some good runs by club members: Bruce Bryant M60 won the 5.2km course in 58.56 mins and Tony Feltbower was 10th.. On the 7.3km long course, David Leadley M55 was 7th and Chris McCartney M50 9th. Liz Phillips W55 was 5th on the 4.1km course and Peter Carey M75 was 4th on the 3.5km course.
