Hambleden Woods, Results

 

Octavian Droobers Orienteering Club members competed this weekend, alongside 750 entrants, at an event around the Hambleden Estate, on the Chiltern Hills near Henley, organised by Thames Valley Orienteering Club.  Members experienced the beautiful woods and caught sight of wallabies, deer and the occasional hare whilst navigating through thickets and criss-crossing the paths searching for the checkpoints.

On the Black 12.3km course with 450 metres of climb Philip Vokes M21 was 2nd in 74.57mins only 58 seconds behind the winner, Adam Potter from Bristol, and a great run on the same course by Alistair Landels M50 saw him return in 80.45minutes to take 7th place and claim top place for his age group.  Adam Landels M12 was 6th in 35.33mins and Max Straube-Roth 13th 45.55mins on the Orange 3.1km course. Anne Straube was top W45 on the Short Brown 8.2km course with 300 metres of climb taking 79.25mins. 

 

Other good times were achieved by: Lesley Ross W55 62.12min on the Blue 7.3km course, Tony Feltbower M65 52.30mins and Juliette Soulard W50 54.18mins both on the Short Blue 5.6km course, Joanne Leigh W50 58.41mins on the Short Green 3.9km course, Sue Hallett W75 57.41mins on the 3km Very Short Green Course
