OD COME THIRD IN COMPASS SPORT CUP FINAL
At the annual inter club competition final, held on Burbage Moor, near Sheffield, Octavian Droobers came third with 2194 points only ten points behind Bristol, 2204 points. South Yorkshire were awarded 1st place scoring 2277 points. OD fielded a team of 70 competitors and the best 25 scorers included some fantastic running by Matt Halliday M20 who won his 7.3k race in 50.13mins and scored the maximum 100 points.
Other high scorers were Will Critchley M21 3rd on the long Brown 9.8k in 67.18mins scoring 98 points, Dan Halliday scored 94 points, Iain Embrey 92 and Andy Simpson 90 on the same course. Junior girls excelled and Julie Emmerson W14 was 2nd in 25.20mins, scoring 96 points and Rachel Emmerson W14 3rd in 26.12mins 92 points on the Orange Women’s 2.6k course. On the Orange Men’s 2.7k course Hamish Rogers M14 came 3rd 20.53mins 92 points just ahead of Harrison McCartney M12 20.55mins. Sheila Carey W60 scored 96 points on the Short Green Vets 4k course and Sue Hallett W60 94 points. Robert Gardner M20 scored 94 points on the Blue Men’s 7.3k course, Jess Halliday W21 90 on the Blue Women’s 6.6k course and Mike Hampton 90 points on the Green Men’s 5k course.

OD JUNIORS WIN THROUGH TO YVETTE BAKER TROPHY FINAL
Twenty five juniors travelled to Bracknell, Berks to compete in the preliminary round of the inter club national junior orienteering championships and came away with a convincing win.
Against Happy Herts, Thames Valley and Berkshire Orienteers, OD juniors produced some brilliant results scoring 895 points with 4 1st places: Jeremy Knott (Yellow), Harrison McCartney (Orange, Julie Emmerson (Light Green) and Guy Ross (Light Green). The 5 2nd places went to Alex Hedges (Orange), Lizzie Davies (Orange), Michael Hanson-Morris (Light Green), Aimee Morse (Light Green) and Matt Elkington (Green). The juniors, who are currently the holders of the Yvette Baker Trophy, will defend the title on 5th December in Bewdley, Worcestershire. See "Juniors" for details.

Liz Phillips W45 and Will Gardner M18 were celebrating at the weekend after coming 1st in the Maize Maze orienteering event held at Postern House Farm, near Burton-on-Trent, organised by Walton Chasers Orienteering Club. The event run through the farmers maize maze included two qualifying races followed by a night race final. Will Gardner won in 13.14mins over the 0.79k course, Iain Embrey was 3rd man in 13.59mins and Liz Phillips won the women’s prize in 22.51mins.
