BRUETON PARK RESULTS

Sheila and Pete Carey, organisers, welcomed many new orienteers to bright and sunny Brueton Park, Solihull at the Saturday morning local event. The club appreciated assistance with publicity and use of the Brueton Park Parkrun marquee resulting in several new runners experiencing orienteering for the first time. Other club members offered coaching for juniors and encouragement for school children from Bournville and Coventry.

There were over 80 entries on the 3 courses: short 2.4k, medium 3.1k and long 5.3k. It was pleasing to see newcomers from Bournville School taking the top 3 positions on the short course: Dan Thornewell M14 16.15mins, Joel Thomas M14 17.48mins and Matthew Stoddard M16 18.47mins. Having enjoyed the short course they went out again, ran the medium course and finished in the top 10. We look forward to seeing them again.

On the medium course OD club members took the honours: 1st Paul Furness M55 20.39mins, 2nd Dermot Lynch M35 22.19mins and 3rd Suzanne Humphries W45 23.06mins.
