RESULTS ROUND UP

Urban racing was popular with Octavian Droobers club members this weekend, with Lincoln, Sheffield and Tewkesbury being the locations of the events.

First up, as part of the Race the Castles series in Yorkshire on Saturday, was the Sheffield race which saw Peter Carey M75 the outright winner of the Men Hyper Vet class racing around the 3.9km course in 31.59mins.

Around Lincoln City on Sunday Peter Carey M75 was 2nd on the Mens Hyper Vet 3.09km course taking 28.12mins, Sheila Carey W70 3rd on the Womens Ultra Vet 3.09km course taking 27.33mins, Sue Bicknell W75 was 4th on the Womens Hyper Vet 3.09km course in 42.18mins and Keith Willdig M70 was placed 8th on the Mens Ultra Vet course taking 38.40mins on the 4.45kmm course.

The very narrow alleyways and riverside pathways of Tewkesbury provided some interesting features to the town race organised by North Gloucester Orienteering Club. Some successful navigating saw some top ten results by club members: Kin Wai Lee M21 was 4th on the Mens Open race, Chris McCartney M50 was 8th on the Mens Veteran course, Andy Emmerson M60 was 2nd, Barry Elkington M60 3rd and Mike Snell 7th on the Mens Super Veteran course. Mike Hampton M70 was 6th on the Mens Ultra Veteran course. Ka Man Leung W21 was 2nd on the Womens Open course as was Lesley Ross W50 on the Womens Veteran course. Jill Emmerson W55 was 4th on the Womens Super Veteran course and Karin Kirk W70 was 2nd and Sue Hallett W70 5th on the Womens Ultra Veteran Course. Joanne Leigh W50 was 1st on the Short Green course
