Now the excitement (disappointment?) of the World Cup is over, normal service can be resumed. Come and expel your excess energy at Hillfield Park, Solihull, on Wednesday evening.
Parking is in the northern car park, accessed via Brick Kiln Lane.
We hope to be ready for 6pm starts, if not before.
Courses close at 8pm to allow time for control collection before the car park gates are locked at 9pm.
Please note there are no toilets at Hillfield Park.
The woodland area in the northernmost part of the park is now fenced off and is out of bounds.
The map is 1:5000 scale. Control descriptions are all printed on the maps. Courses are:
Short - 2.1 km, 15 controls
Medium - 3.6 km, 16 controls
Odds & Evens Score - 45 minutes, up to 30 controls
The score is on a double-sided map. 15 Odd-numbered controls on one side and 15 Even-numbered controls on the reverse. You may choose to start with either the Odd-numbered controls, before switching to the Evens, OR start with Evens and later switch to Odds. Once you have switched, you cannot switch back, as these will not be counted towards your points total. As an extra twist, controls on each side of the map must be visited in increasing number order. You may choose to skip controls, but if you do, you cannot go back for them later, as they will not count. Each control correctly visited scores 10 points. There is a time limit of 45 minutes for the score. Each minute or part-minute over that time incurs a 10 point penalty.
Entry fees: Seniors £5, Juniors £1
Emit hire is £1. Emits are hired at your own risk and incur a replacement cost if lost.
NB Full leg cover is recommended, but not complsory, due to extensive nettle growth in some areas of the map.
Please take care around water and near the road and car park areas. Please be aware of other park users - cyclists, dog walkers etc.
Please bring your own drinks, sunscreen etc, especially if the weather continues to be hot.
For those who are interested in refreshments afterwards, the nearest pub is The Fieldhouse in Knightcote Drive, off Monkspath Hall Road.
Looking forward to seeing you there.
